CHAPTER FOUR
The Heart's Higher Calling
It is possible to move beyond judgment, jealousy, and blame. In this chapter these small minded qualites are examined and their antidotes are explained in depth, their antidotes including the four sublime abidings (brahma-viharas): loving-kindness (metta), compassion, appreciative joy, and equanimity. These qualities are commonly espoused, but so rarely acted upon. What's needed is that these fundamental spiritual topics are given more than a cursory glance and a nod of the head; what's needed is that they are incorporated them into our hearts, minds, words, and actions.
